Using Old Stash - Cards & Giveaway! {NOW CLOSED}

(This post is part of my Frosty Festivities Blog Event)

Here's three ideas for using up old winter or Christmas related paper crafting stash:

1. Find some bits that look on trend:

The polar bear 'flair' on here is actually an old badge from Paperchase. But it looks like the modern flair trend, so it makes the card feel up to date. Plus the bit of ribbon is the kind that never goes out of fashion, even though I bought it a couple of years ago. These things help to make the card look modern, even if the paper and trees looked a little dated in my stash.

2. Punch them out:

The patterns on these blue papers weren't really to my taste any more. But I still love my Martha Stewart Vintage Doily punch, so I used that to create some snowflakes. With a few gems added they look very pretty!

3. Give it away {NOW CLOSED}:

I have too much old Christmas and winter themed stash sitting around. Even with me using it on some cards, and my daughter cutting bits up and sticking stickers everywhere, it's barely dented. So here's a giveaway for one of you to take a little of it off my hands, if you'd like to!

It's a real mix of bits and bobs, I don't even know who the manufacturers are for some of them. But it all seems to be in good shape, and I don't think the stamp set has ever been used!

To enter this giveaway {NOW CLOSED} just leave a comment here letting me know you're interested! This giveaway will close at 10.59pm GMT on Monday 19th November. The winner will be announced, along with winners of all this weekend's giveaways, on Thursday 22nd November. The giveaway is open internationally. Please make sure that you tell me how to contact you if you win, if you're not easily reached via a google account.

Be Inspired:
  • See if you've got an old badge you could add to a project as 'flair'
  • Punch or die-cut up a piece of paper you don't like anymore - even if you don't know what you could use the shapes on yet
  • Make a card that shows a 'landscape' type scene, like the first card above

Don't forget that a comment on this post, or on any of my posts from this weekend, will count as an entry into the Grand Giveaway {NOW CLOSED} - but only if you've registered your interest in winning that here!

Do you have a pile of old Christmas/winter stash you need to use up? Back again soon! x

Great giveaway....I love christmas stash....please.
I often use up old scraps by die cutting shapes....and cards are always great for using up small pieces of stash that you might not want for scrapbooking any more.

Love your doily-as-snowflakes, very pretty! Would love to be considered, please, my 6 year old has a long wish list of Christmas projects she'd like 'us' to make!

Three lovely cards - well done for using up old stuff.

I have got better about buying Christmas themed stash as I have so much of it but I can't seem to stop buying Christmas stamps - I am going to try next year to not buy any new ones (will be hard as those norty people at Penny Black keep bringing out lovely new designs).

Great giveaway - count me in please x

Having recent sorted my old stash to donate to a very good cause I would include the prize to send onto to the cause.

Using a punch is a great way to use up papers where you no longer love the design :) No need to include me in this giveaway thanks - I'm not very good at using up Christmas themed stash myself! But oh, I just might *need* one of those doily punches for myself now....

I am afraid I really ONLY use old stash as I am consciously trying not to buy anything new - I have a LOT of stuff to use up

I try not to let my stash grow too large but I think I could allow it to grow a bit ;) So I'd like to enter for this giveaway, please.

I have been meaning to buy that doily punch for ages and forgot! Might have to after all your inspiration using it! I read Shimelle recently saying she only keeps stash she loves so I have started clearing out some of mine and plan to give it all away. I won't be included in this giveaway thank you xxx

I love that card!

I use most of my Xmas stash every year. It's the easter things that can hardly make a dent in.

Thank you for a giveaway within a giveaway - like giveception :)

I don't have a lot of Christmas themed stash as I don't tend to buy specifically Christmas stuff - but I do have two bin bags full of old Christmas cards dutifull collected by work colleagues last year for me to make new cards with .... maybe next year :o)

Like you, I have a lot of Christmas Stash that often does not get used, so today I used 3 sheets of "best Chrisgtmas paper" and just cut it up to make cards - much better used that stuck in a box!

I'll pass on this give-away thanks, but I wanted to tell you this story: I recently did a similar style post about using old stash with current trends - one commenter said that my Scrabble tiles was what kept it looking current - and they were probably one of the oldest products on the page!

I give mine to the children too. This year they are getting a whole bunch of my cast offs as part of our preparations for Christmas!

I have a pile of old Christmas cards received that I haven't done anything with, but I have some ideas for how to incorporate them into my Christmas Journal this year.
