Lucky Charm Layouts & Giveaway Winners

Hello all. Sorry I've been absent for a week, we've all been a bit ill here. Nothing serious, but enough to make me feel a bit grumpy and run down. It was my daughter's birthday yesterday so any spare energy was put into preparations for that instead of blogging. She had a fabulous day and got lots of lovely presents, so she's happy!

In the meantime, some projects I made for the SJ Crafts blog were posted HERE yesterday. Sarah sent me a Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm 6x6 pad and Stamp Set to play with, and I have enjoyed using them so much! Here's the two layouts I made:

Love on Paper:

The feathers are cut from the 6x6 pad using my Cricut Mini and the 'Southwest' Cartridge, I thought they looked like writing quills so they worked well on a page about me and my husband signing the marriage register, and it gave some of my favourite papers from the pad a great place to shine!

I enhanced the romantic theme with gold heat embossed hearts on the background, and some envelopes and a jar fussy cut from other papers in the pad. The 'come fly away with me' sentiment on the hot air balloon stamp is just so dreamy, I had to use it on here too!

Disney Family:

I wanted a more bold and straight look for this layout, to contrast with all the details on our costumes in the photo. I love that this pad has gorgeous graphic papers as well as romantic ones - just look at these stripes, anchors, triangles and chevrons - it's so trendy!

I stamped and heat embossed the chevron stamp several times on the left to point at the photo, and I added this 'you make my heart sing' cut-out from the pad, as my family make me so happy! The heart gems on here are by Papermania, and there's some enamel dots (My Mind's Eye My Girl), and some clear gemstones (Hero Arts) - which I've used as raindrops from the cloud. I've used this technique before (here), but I thought it was okay to do it again as I loved it and the layouts will go in different albums!

If you want to see some close-up details of the layouts, then go HERE to the SJ Crafts blog to take a peek! I made a couple of cards with the collection too which will appear over there soon!

Giveaway Winners:

Before I go, I have a couple of Giveaway Winners to announce... these are both re-draws because the original winners never contacted me.

The first is a new winner from the PaperHaus Spring Fling Blog Hop Giveaway...

Congratulations Becky, please let me know your mailing address (at same email as above) and we shall get the Echo Park 'Photo Freedom' kit on it's way to you!

Things to tell you... and a giveaway!

The wonderful Sian at From High in the Sky is running a very interesting series called 'So this is Scrapbooking', and she invited me to join in and tell my story. So if you'd like to read more about how I discovered scrapbooking and what it means to me, then go check it out here!

One thing you may notice on that post is a bit of news - I'm currently working on a new blog, to replace this one. Don't worry, the stuff you love at Jennifer's Jumbles will continue at the new blog, you'll just need to change the address you're following! The new blog is not quite ready ready, but if you want to take a sneaky peek at the work-in-progress, or start adding it to your reader, then you can - the address is www.jennifergracecreates.com.

In the meantime I'd love it if you'll tell me what you'd like to see at the new blog, so I've created a survey with 10 questions, to ask what you'd like to find at Jennifer Grace Creates.

Anyone who answers the survey can enter to win a giveaway for a surprise box of papercrafting goodies! I'll stuff a pizza box with a mix of old and new items. Just make sure you leave an email address in the right box on the survey so I can contact you if you win. The closing date is Friday 22nd March, and the winner will be notified by Sunday 24th March. The giveaway is open internationally.

The survey is HERE!

Thanks very much for taking the time to read my blog, your support is much appreciated! You are welcome to leave a comment on this post, but please be aware that only answering the survey will enter you into the giveaway!

And don't forget to go and check out my guest post at From High in the Sky! x

If you'd like to be added to my email list, to be contacted about future giveaways, events, or classes at Jennifer's Jumbles, then leave me your email as a comment, or send it to me at jennifergrace (at) hotmail (dot) co (dot) uk. This post announces the winners of the Sponsored Giveaways from my Frosty Festivities weekend. But before I tell you the winners, I want to say a big, huge, THANK YOU to the sponsors!

Supplies mainly Crate Paper Acorn Avenue

The weekend wouldn't have been the same without the generous prizes from SJ Crafts, talktothesun, and Scrap and Create!

I'm incredibly grateful to these wonderful shops for offering prizes!

Whether you are a winner or not it would be lovely if you can show support to these shops by visiting them next time you want to top up your crafting supplies. Remember that Jayne is offering 3 bonus flair buttons to anyone that orders from Scrap and Create between now and 15th of December, quoting 'Jennifer's Jumbles', and don't forget to keep an eye on SJ Crafts and talktothesun's Facebook pages for updates or special offers!

Without further delay, here are the winners of the Sponsored Giveaways:

Congratulations Winners!

Please contact me at jennifergrace (at) hotmail (dot) co (dot) uk (you could also click the envelope icon in my right sidebar to send me an email) - put 'giveaway winner' in the subject line. From Nikki D I need your mailing address, from Marilize and Louise I need to know if you have an Etsy username. These details will then be passed on to the shop owners, so they can sort out delivery of your prize to you!

I shall be back in about an hour to announce the winners of the Grand Giveaway, the Blog Hop Prize, and the kit of Old Christmas/Winter Stash!

In the meantime don't forget that the challenges are still open (the Finale post has a link to them all), and, if you haven't had a chance to fill out my survey yet, I'd be so grateful if you can do that here. (Thanks to everyone who's already filled the survey out!)

A Giveaway! Sponsored by Scrap and Create {NOW CLOSED}

(This post is part of my Frosty Festivities Blog Event)

Hands up if you love flair! This sponsored post features the fabulous shop Scrap and Create, which sells the most awesome flair buttons / badges:

Jayne puts together the best patterns and colours!

Here's some of the flair that I badly want to put on my projects:

1. Woodgrain December Daily/Christmas Handmade Flair - ooh, woodgrain and doilies and merry sentiments! These would look so great on some December projects:

2. Aqua Pattern Collection Handmade Flair - This is my favourite colour, and it's perfect for projects all year round. This kind of blue makes me think of crisp winter mornings and refreshing summer seas:

3. Bright Christmas Words Handmade Flair - The bold colours and words on these jumped out at me! Excellent for projects filled with Christmas cheer:

*
I asked Jayne to tell us what she likes about winter:

My favourite thing about winter is snow! As I live in Australia, to see snow I have to head up to the mountains, so I love travelling to parts of the world where snow is abundant. I also love any excuse to wear scarves!

Oh, to head to the mountains, and wrap up in scarves! It sounds like a fun way to spend a winter weekend!

Jayne is giving away a brilliant prize to one lucky winner:

4 whole sets of badges, worth $15!
Whoop! That's a whole lot of lovely flair going to one of you!

All you have to do to try and win the prize, is to pop over to the Scrap and Create Etsy Shop, take a look around, and come back to comment - tell me what flair set you love the most. Try to say something I haven't mentioned - I want to know if there's anything I've missed!

This giveaway {NOW CLOSED} will close at 10.59pm GMT on Monday 19th November. The winner will be announced, along with winners of all this weekend's giveaways, on Thursday 22nd November. The giveaway is open internationally. Please make sure that you tell me how to contact you if you win, if you're not easily reached via a google account.

Jayne's also given us a treat - a special offer! If you mention 'Jennifer's Jumbles' between now and the 15th of December when you place an order, then you'll get 3 bonus flair buttons! So if you don't win the prize, you've got a wonderful excuse to treat yourself to some flair! Thanks Jayne!

Finally, don't forget that commenting on this post, and any other this weekend, will count as an entry into the Grand Giveaway {NOW CLOSED} - but only if you've registered your interest in winning that prize right here!

Don't forget to let me know what you like in the Scrap and Create Shop! See you again at 9pm! x

A Giveaway! Sponsored by talktothesun {NOW CLOSED}

(This post is part of my Frosty Festivities Blog Event)

It's time for another exciting sponsored giveaway!

I'm pleased to introduce you to Riyo and her shop 'talktothesun' - a beautiful Etsy shop filled with handmade rubber stamps (and handmade jewellery).

I fell in love with Riyo's stamps as soon as I saw them, and I've discovered that Riyo's lovely too! I also learnt that writing in Japanese doesn't have any spaces between the words, so that's why 'talktothesun' doesn't have any spaces in the shop name:

Here's a few of her stamps that would work well for winter projects and beyond, which I would really love to get my hands on:

1. 'Christmas Snow Globe' Handmade Rubber Stamp - This is such a fun stamp set. Put it all together and it's perfect for Christmas cards, but you could easily use the parts separately all year round - the frame would look great filled with journaling or ephemera, and the star is just cute!:

2. 'Girl in a Knitted Hat' Handmade Rubber Stamp - This sweet girl stamp reminds me of myself and my daughter - we love bobble hats in the winter! I'd like this smiling face on my layouts and cards:

3. 'Night Forest' Rubber Stamp - This one is stunning. I love deer images, and I like that this deer is regal and serene looking, instead of cutesy. I want to stamp her image everywhere, to remind me to find my inner peace:

*
I asked Riyo to tell us what she likes about winter...

Nothing very special...but I like staying in my cosy room with a cup of green tea and some chocolate. If it's snowing, I have a great white view of the farm in front of me....otherwise, I like winter because I can wear my favourite vintage knitted hat passed on from my great grandmother.

Doesn't she paint a nice picture? I'd like to be eating chocolate and staring out at the snow right now!

Riyo is giving away a 'Tree & Leaf' Handmade Stamp Set to one lucky winner:

I love that the leaves are all patterned differently (and one looks like a feather so could be used as that too!). The tree would look gorgeous with different coloured and patterned leaves, and you could choose the colours depending on the season!

All you have to do to try and win the prize, is to pop over to the talktothesun Etsy Shop, take a look around, and come back to comment - tell me what items of Riyo's you love the most.

Finally, don't forget that commenting on this post, and any other this weekend, will count as an entry into the Grand Giveaway {NOW CLOSED} - but only if you've registered your interest in winning that prize right here!

Don't forget to let me know what you like in the talktothesun Shop! You could also pop and say hello to Riyo on her Facebook Page! See you again in 60 minutes! x

A Giveaway! Sponsored by SJ Crafts {NOW CLOSED}

(This post is part of my Frosty Festivities Blog Event)

I am happy to announce that SJ Crafts is sponsoring one of the giveaways {NOW CLOSED} this weekend! Sarah is a really lovely lady, and I'm not just saying it because she picked me to be on her Design Team again!

Sarah stocks a fabulous selection of scrapbooking and crafting products. Here's some of my favourites that are in stock, which I don't own yet, but I'm seriously tempted to order:

1. The Echo Park This & That Christmas Collection Kit - I've already got quite a lot of Christmas/winter scrapbook items, but there's something about this kit that's calling to me! I think it might be the wood patterns mixed in with the reds and greens:

2. Studio Calico Mr Huey 'Classic Calico' Mist - I'm slowly building up my mist supplies, and I think this might be the next shade that I 'need'!:

3. Glitz Cashmere Dame Washi Tape 'Blue Polka' - My family and friends can tell you I have a thing for white-on-blue polka dots. This tape would be awesome for winter projects, or just for wrapping extra special gifts or sealing envelopes:

I asked Sarah to tell us what she likes about winter...

I'm delighted to be invited to be one of the sponsors for Jennifer's Frosty Festivities Event!

Sarah's back garden in winter!

This season is definitely right up there as one of my favourite times of the year!
I love the excitement that gradually builds as we get closer to the 25th December.
Yes, life gets crazy busy as I write list after list and endeavour to get everything ticked off, and yes I do worry if I'll forget to buy the turkey, or the house won't be ready for my family to come and stay, or what if their flight gets cancelled due to the winter weather, as it did a few years ago.

Some of the the best things about this time of year for me are the simple things, like snuggling up in the evening to watch a film, sitting making Christmas cards with my daughter, or watching her carefully write her letter to Santa (which she has already done this year!) in her very best handwriting.

I love the mornings when I wake up to a white blanket of snow. Those days when I go to bed having heard the weather forecast but still thinking "We'll not get snow .... we never get snow this close to the south coast!" ... but we do each time. I love how beautiful it looks laying unspoilt and untouched on the trees and ground!  It's these moments that make Winter so special!

Thanks Sarah! I live near Sarah and I have the same worries when snow is forecast - worrying that it won't actually arrive! Unfortunately it's usually more of a dusting in my town but it still looks pretty!

SJ Crafts is giving away an Echo Park Photo Freedom - Today's Story Collection Kit to one lucky winner:

All you have to do to try and win the prize, is to pop over to the SJ Crafts Shop, take a look around, and come back to comment - tell me what items you like that Sarah stocks!

Finally, don't forget that commenting on this post, and any other this weekend, will count as an entry into the Grand Giveaway {NOW CLOSED} - but only if you've registered your interest in winning that prize right here!

Don't forget to let me know what you like in the SJ Crafts shop! You could also pop and say hello to Sarah on the shop Facebook Page! See you in an hour! x

Frosty Festivities Blog Hop & Giveaway! {NOW CLOSED}

Hello! If you're new here, welcome to my blog, and to my Frosty Festivities weekend - don't forget to check out the other posts and prizes that are part of the event!

This weekend isn't just about winter posts by myself - you also have a Blog Hop (right now!), featuring some of my wonderful blogging companions to fill you with frosty & festive feelings!

And if you hop all the way around, commenting as you go, you'll be in with a chance to win this sensational seasonal prize {NOW CLOSED} :

Which includes over £25 worth of Carta Bella Winter Fun, and Basic Grey Aspen Frost, plus Maya Road 'Vintage Lace Daisies - Milk', a few buttons and a sheet of red cardstock!

To enter the giveaway {NOW CLOSED} you must comment on all the blogs in the hop, and then stop back here at the end to let me know you've done so. Also make sure you tell me how to contact you if you win, if you're not easily reached via your google account.

The giveaway closes at 10.59pm (GMT) Monday 19th November, and is open internationally. The winner will be announced on this blog, Jennifer's Jumbles, on Thursday 22nd November.

Once you've finished here, the next stop along the line is Abi. At the bottom of my post there's also a master list of all the blogs taking part, in case you get lost anywhere along the way!

Right now I want to tell you one of my favourite things about winter...

Frosty Outside, Cosy Inside:

On warm sunny days I like to go out exploring, but I could never live somewhere that's hot all year around, because I like the flip side too. I love it when the weather gets colder - it gives me a great reason for staying inside, wearing my slippers, reading a good book, and sipping hot chocolate!

Here's how I put the 'frame' onto the layout:

I took two sheets of white cardstock and cut them in half:

I marked on the back of two of them how deep I wanted my transparencies to sit:

And then I drew a freehand wobbly line, to look a bit like snow built up on a window, leaving an edge all around to fix my transparencies to:

I cut these out, then put them onto the other cardstock halves, right sides together, so I could draw the shapes that I'd cut onto the other half. Once I'd drawn it, I cut them out to match, so that the cardstock halves would sit together:

And then I stuck them together, sandwiching the transparencies in between (sorry it's hard to see on the photo):

To fix it to the layout, I used Washi Tape on the front and back of the join, to make a hinge. I also did some zig-zag stitching on the edges of the washi tape to strengthen it, and stop it from coming off the paper, as Washi Tape doesn't have strong adhesive on it and I want the layout to last! (Sorry I don't have any photos of this bit)

Then I decorated the inside of the layout:

Supplies: American Crafts Cardstock. Pink Paislee City Sidewalks 8x8 Papers and Ephemera. Crate Paper Sleigh Ride 6x6 papers, 12x12 Tag Cut sheet, and Vellum tags and numbers, Acorn Avenue Thickers. My Mind's Eye All is Bright Stickers and Decorative Tape. October afternoon Tiny Type Stickers. Various Gems, Sewing Machine, Black Journaling Pen.

The pile of books are ones I often like to re-read in Winter: 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone', 'The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe', 'Pride and Prejudice', 'Twilight', 'Graceling', and 'Wintersmith'. I've read these books so many times that the spines are cracked, and the pages have blobs of hot chocolate on them! They are great to snuggle up with when the weather is cold.

To decorate the front 'frame' of the layout, I protected the inside with a sheet of white tissue paper, so I could still see where the lines were on the layout beneath. Then I coated the transparencies with Sparkle Mod Podge, not worrying too much if I went onto the white frame a bit. I stuck the 'frosty outside' wording down on top - I went over the word 'outside' with Mod Podge too as it was cut from paper, and the Mod Podge would help to protect it::

I like opening the frame to peep inside at the cosy layout beneath!

Do you have certain books to read or games to play in the winter? Or any other wintry occupations? Have you scrapbooked them?

Now it's time for me to send you off around the hop! You should go to Abi next! If you get lost at all, here's the master list:

Don't forget to comment all the way around, and then stop back here to let me know you've done so, and you'll be in with a chance to win the prize!

Also remember that a comment on this post, or on any of my posts from this weekend, will count as an entry into the Grand Giveaway {NOW CLOSED} but only if you've registered your interest in winning that here!

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoy the hop. I'll see you here again in one hour, though the next post is a short one to give you more time to soak up the hop posts! x

Frosty Festivities ~ Welcome & Grand Giveaway! {NOW CLOSED}

Challenges are STILL OPEN, but the giveaways are now closed. Thanks to all who entered. Giveaway winners will be announced Thursday 22nd November.

Hello and welcome to my Frosty Festivities weekend! I'm so pleased you're here, and I hope you'll find lots of inspiration and enjoyment from all the winter themed posts this weekend!

If you haven't previously heard about this event, then here's what's going to happen. This weekend (the 16th - 18th November), from 4pm-10pm Friday (today), and 10am-10pm Saturday and Sunday (GMT), there will be posts going live here every hour, on the hour (if all goes well!). There will be tips, tutorials, challenges, crafts, a blog hop, a chat room (for details see here), a PDF to download after the event, and lots of GIVEAWAYS!

The giveaways {NOW CLOSED} will stay open until Monday (19th November) at 10.59pm GMT, so if you're away for any part of the weekend you'll have Monday to try and catch up! The challenges (there's four of them) {STILL OPEN} will be open until the following Sunday (25th November 2012) too! All the giveaways and challenges will be open internationally.

And, we're kicking off the giveaways right here, right now, with a Grand Giveaway {NOW CLOSED}:

The prize includes (worth over £40):

  • 5 sheets of Crate Paper Sleigh Ride Patterned Paper (Let it Snow, O Christmas Tree, Rudolph, Blue Christmas, Tag Cuts)
  • Crate Paper Sleigh Ride 'Mini Alpha Stickers' and Vellum Die-Cuts 'Tags & Numbers'
  • 4 Sheets of My Mind's Eye Winter Wonderland Patterned Paper (Flakes, Presents, Polka Dots, Tags)
  • My Mind's Eye Winter Wonderland 'Decorative Buttons' and 'Enamel Dots'
  • 12 sheets of Pink Paislee City Sidewalks 8x8 Patterned Paper (this is half a pack)
  • Pink Paislee City Sidewalks 'Ephemera', 'Paper Garlands' and half a pack of 'Chipboard Snowflakes'
  • 3 Sheets of 12x12 Cardstock, 10 yards of Bakers Twine Divine Twine 'Cherry', and pale blue Kaiser Scrapbook Pearls.
What do you think? Definitely a lot of bits to help someone with their winter crafting. A lot of the papers and embellishments could be used on non-Christmas or winter themed pages too, so they'll be good in your stash all year round!

So how do you get your hands on this prize? Just leave a comment! You could just leave one on this post, but every comment on any post this weekend will count as another entry into the draw! (That's commenting on posts that have been newly posted this weekend, from now until Sunday 10pm - going back commenting on old posts won't count - sorry!)

You will only be entered into the Grand Giveaway draw if you have commented on this welcome post - that way if you don't want to win the prize (perhaps you're lucky enough to already own all this stuff?!) then don't comment here - but you can still leave commments for the rest of the weekend (and maybe win some other giveaways!), without being entered into this draw. (I hope that all makes sense!)

And to tempt you to enter, and to start of the winter inspiration, here's a tag I've made using products the same as those in the prize - all I've added is adhesive, red ink, and some gold glitter glue:

It looks good on a parcel wrapped in brown paper and lace:

To make one of your own: 1. Take an ephemera piece and ink the edges with red ink, mount it onto a pale blue patterned piece of paper. Ink the edges of this and mount it onto red-and-white patterned paper, ink the edges again. 2. Place a sentiment in the middle of the tag, and then add a scattering of chipboard embellies, enamel dots, and another bit of ephemera stuck on with a strong 3D foam dot. Add a few drops of glitter glue, leave to dry. 3. Punch a hole at the top of the tag and thread with bakers twine. Attach to a gift or project!

Be Inspired:
  • Make a tag with layers of ephemera and patterned paper
  • Use lace to wrap a parcel

Don't forget to leave a comment here to be entered into the Grand Giveaway {NOW CLOSED} - the giveaway is open internationally, and it will close at 10.59pm (GMT) Monday 19th November. Make sure you leave me a way to contact you if you win, if you're not easily reached via a Google account.

I'll see you again at 5pm!
