They set this picture as an Inspiration Challenge, and I loved the mix of colours and elements. There was a blog hop of fabulous examples too, so I couldn't resist joining in - it just meant that I added a few things to my counterfeit kit contents.
I got inspiration from everything in the picture - the colours, the embellies and the quote. Here's my layout (click image to see it larger):
I made the crochet flowers and the pinwheel, and used buttons, brads, the flower paper, alphas and the journaling card from my counterfeit kit. I also zig-zag stitched the flower paper onto a metallic green piece of cardstock - I always have trouble zig-zagging like this - when I get to the corners I keep going the wrong way. It's very annoying but I guess I just need to practice more!
Once I'd finished I challenged myself to make a quick card using leftovers and the same inspiration picture. The card didn't end up being a quick make though - because I had the same trouble with the zig-zag stitch and ended up finishing it by hand stitching! Here it is (click to see it larger):
I just bought these A6 Papermania Kraft card blanks the other day and I love them, I think they'll be appearing a lot.
If you're inspired by the Polkadot Door Designs picture to make something, then you have until the 15th to enter the challenge - head on over and take a look here.
Or if you've been inspired to make a counterfeit kit and don't know what that's all about, you can see the blog here.
I think I'm having a crafting splurge before the baby arrives (due 7th July) - it doesn't seem like long left now! x

Oh so very beautiful. Thanks for the inspiration. Your flower and pinwheels turned out great.
So adorable - wonderful layout. And kudos for doing such a cute card too.
Love that layout! The pp is fantastic! And how cute is that card! Don't worry about imperfect stitching, just sew crooked or back and forth intentionally once in awhile, then any mistakes look like they were on purpose!
Very nice!
Jennifer! So glad you were able to participate in the Blog Hop! You have done a beautiful job--the layout is adorable--sweet use of embellishments! And how nice to make a card with the extras! It's really cute--the little 'smile' die cut is so fun and perfect for the challenge (or was it a stamp?) and I love the different layers! A thought on the stitching--I feel like corners are easier with a zig-zag that is closer together. With a wider stitch--one stitch can be way too close or way too far from the corner when it's time to turn. I have more control over that when my stitches are closer together. Also sometimes I straight stitch the top, and zig-zag the sides--sometimes the other way around--that may be a way around your frustration. It looks great though--I wouldn't have known you switched from the machine to hand stitching. Great projects!! (Gosh--that was probably way too much info!) (Thanks for your comment!!)
Wow, you don't have long to go now at all :)
I can see how that cool picture inspired you - I love the little pinwheels and the crochet flowers are beautiful.
Wow, you really managed to incorporate everything from the inspiration photo into your designs. Both projects are gorgeous! We are so happy that you joined us for our first challenge and blog hop :)
What a sweet card and layout. Love the pinwheel and the crocheted flower.
Of course the cute baby helps too!
With blogger down for so long, I can't remember if I left a comment yet...Sweet layout and card. Love the pinwheel and the crocheted embellies.. Baby is soooo darn cute.
OMG that is an incredible smile!!! Love the crocheted flowers
Both your layout and card are beautiful. I am slightly in awe that you made your own crocheted flowers... I totally need to learn how to do that because they are adorable :) Thanks so much for playing along with our challenge!
Great layout Jennifer, July? wow that has gone fast! {although probably not for you!}:)
So adorable, I just wonder were you have buy the alphabet stamps you have on the smile card??
