I like the message in this poem, telling us that a day which isn't going well can often be improved by the smallest occurrence, from unexpected places. Something to remember in the grey days of winter, when the nights are getting longer and our bank balances may be getting lower!
I will use this poem on something this winter, though I'm not sure what yet - I might just print it out for a frame, or it may go into my JYC / December Daily.

The night before Christmas is my favourite poem too!
ooh that is an interesting poem (and not too long either.... i sometimes get bored easily lol!) I think my fave winter type 'poems' are probably all the traditional christmas carols (or is that cheating??)

It's a lovely poem and OK I confess ... I once made a winter page with a poem except not such a grown up meaningful poem - I used .... OOOh almost ashamed to admit this .... Winnie the Pooh and 'The more it snows Tiddly Pom...'
New poen to me too but so true to life. It is a theme I am trying to keep for my own outlook on life right now
Fun poem. He's got a point - a small and unexpected thing can raise a smile and make a rotten day better.
When I was little, at school, we used to sing a poem set to music - "The North wind doth blow, and we shall have snow, and what will the robin do then, poor thing?..." I still remember it and it was just lovely. I think it's still my favourite, even though it's very simple and perhaps a bit babyish!
I hadn't realised that you could do that with Picmonkey - I love that site for photo collages! TFS

I'm sure I have read that way back in school being Robert Frost. I don't remember it but I'm old enough to appreciate it now. Lovely.

HI there! that's lovely - I might find a spot for it in the art journal I keep meaning to start on ... :o) One of my favourite poems is Ode to Autumn by Keats - just so full of beautiful images - here's the first verse ... "Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells"

Great poem, I confess I am not so much into poetry, but I do love Christmas hymns...and I could easily see incorporating some of the verses for those into my Christmas scrapping.

My favorite is also by Robert Frost: "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening". I wouldn't say it lifts your spirits, but it does capture that perfect silence of a snowy landscape.
I'm a bit of a Sheldon junkie, so warm kitty, soft kitty always makes me smile.
As for serious poetry, there are some great South African poets I adore.
