When I read this challenge, I'd just been commenting on this layout by Louise of Boys, Bugs and Beautiful Buttons, saying that I admired the muted colours but hardly ever used them myself as I found it difficult - if you're a regular follower you know my layouts are usually bright. I also admire Rahel Menig's (of swissgirlDesigns) use of softer colours, and I also chose to try her technique of leaving loose threads. I hope I've managed to combine it with my own style too, using distressing and paint as techniques I love:
I like how the soft colours work for this page, but I think I'd miss the brightness if I did this too often! Do you think it still looks like 'my' page?
Hope you all have a lovely, crafty, Saturday! x

It certainly does have your personality on it and I think you have made a great job stepping out of your colour comfort zone! And what a fabulous photo and sentiment. Lovely!
I love the muted colours on this page and the effects with the paint. I have become a follower as I seem to be stumbling upon your blog a lot recently! :)
The muted colors work beautifully with this photo. I'm one to use lots of color also, so I think you did a great job trying this & ending up with such a lovely layout. Of course, that's such a precious photo to start with!
Beautiful layout - I also love the colorful layouts in your gallery
Gorgeous!! Love the background and the little pops of color!!
Gorgeous. Particularly like the paint and the stitching across the title.
Jennifer - a fantastic page it looks so calm and delicate....I love it. The stitching across the title looks good too I always worry that i'll get the machine stuck half way across lol!
It is good to try something different once in a while but like you i do like colour too xx
I love this look too - very lovely indeed
A beautiful LO. The muted colours suit the photograph so well :)
This is a precious page. I love the muted tones. It just works so well with the photo.
This is so, so beautiful and yes, with the finishing touches you've added, I can see it's one of your pages x
